A Foe turning into a friend

Shaibah Ibne Abi Usman bin Talha says that I hated Mohammad (s.a.w.a.) the most. The reason for this was that he had killed eight men from us who were commanders of our army. I had a strong desire to take revenge of the killings. However, after the victory of Mecca, my desire to take revenge was devastated and I became despair from the plan of killing Mohammad (s.a.w.a.). I became sure that the Arabs will accept the religion of Mohammad (s.a.w.a.) and my  aim was ruined.
I joined the battle of Hunain with the view of taking an opportunity of killing Mohammad (s.a.w.a.). When I saw Muslims running and leaving Mohammad (s.a.w.a.) alone with few companions, I decided to attack him from behind. When I neared him to attack, I felt awe in my heart and I did not have any strength to attack. At that time I saw a fire ball racing towards me. I was certain that I will be finished, at that moment Mohammad (s.a.w.a.) turned towards me and said, ‘O Shaibah! Come near me and fight with me’. Then he kept his hand on my chest. The result of this was that Mohammad (s.a.w.a.) became the most beloved to me than any one. Then I fought with him against the disbelievers. The love for him was so acute that if my father would come against Mohammad (s.a.w.a.) to fight, I would have killed him.
After the war, Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said to him, ‘Allah has desired goodness for you’. Then he (s.a.w.a.) told me all my hidden planning. Because of this I became Muslim.

Incident of Ibne Mahziyar Ahwazi

Ali Ibne Ibrahim bin Mahziyar narrates one year when the Hajj season arrived, I prepared for the journey and set out to Medina. When I reached Medina, I inquired from the people about the descendants of Imam Hasan Askari (a), but could not get any information. I was very much worried and at last set out for Mecca. On the way, one day at Johfa I headed for Ghadeer, which is at a distance of four miles from Johfa. I reached there and prayed in the Masjid and after that I supplicated Almighty Allah very fervently; but the aim was not fulfilled there also. So I went to Asfan and thus passing each stage in turn, reached Mecca. I stayed there for some days and was engrossed in Tawaf and other devotions. One night, when I was doing the Tawaf, I noticed an extremely handsome and fragrant young man walking about and doing the Tawaf of the Kaaba. Some feelings arose in my heart; I moved towards him and touched him. He asked: Where do you belong to? I said: Iraq. He asked: Where in Iraq? I said: ...
